PNEUMOCOCCAL (PPSV23)
PPSV23 or Pneumovax® protects against 23 types of pneumococcal bacteria. It is recommended for all adults 65 years or older and for those 2 years or older at high risk for disease. PPSV23 is also recommended for adults 19 through 64 years old who smoke cigarettes or who have asthma.
ZOSTER (SHINGLES)
People 60 years of age or older should get the shingles vaccine. They should get the vaccine whether they recall having had chickenpox, which is caused by the same virus as shingles. Studies show that more than 99% of Americans aged 40 and older have had chickenpox, even if they don't remember getting the disease. There is no maximum age for getting the shingles vaccine.
